O1 Tool Steel Technical Data

DeCarb Free Tool Steel Bar
AISI 0-1

This alloy is one of the Cold Work, oil hardening type tool steels. It is relatively inexpensive containing small amounts of manganese, tungsten and chromium. Hardening by oil quench minimizes distortion and cracking.  O1 alloy can be readily formed in the annealed condition by conventional methods.  0-1 is an oil-hardening, non-deforming tool steel which can be hardened at relatively low temperatures. Tools and dies made from 0-1 will have good wearing qualities since the tungsten and higher chromium content gives improved wear resistance over the straight manganese grades.
